December News

The work of supporting our community can sometimes feel challenging, but we are continually reminded of the powerful and necessary impact of simple kindness (Matthew 25:40). The UWF sponsored another Grab & Go Lunch Making session for the Open Door Mission on Friday, November 14th. Each lunch bag assembled represents hope, stability, and recognition for someone in need. I am so grateful for the commitment of our volunteers who dedicate their time, energy, and resources to this mission. It is through their hands that we are able to help meet a fundamental need in our community.
In our last meeting, our ladies were pleased to designate over $900 to support vital international, national, and local mission efforts. These contributions included:
- $275 toward Heifer International to sponsor a girl’s schooling.
- $200 for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) US Disaster Relief efforts.
- $100 supporting the Cheyenne and Arapaho Indian Ministries.
- $235 allocated to the Grace Church of the Nazarene Food Pantry.
- $150 reserved for a needy family (Recipient to be determined).
As we enter this holy season of Advent, we actively prepare our hearts for the light and love of Christ. And what better way to celebrate the Joy of the coming season than by sharing a table together? This Advent, we invite all the ladies of the congregation to take a moment from the busy preparations and join your sisters in faith at our annual UWF Christmas Potluck, Monday, December 15th 6pm. Signup sheet is on the bulletin board. Please bring a dish to pass, your own place setting and a bag of wrapped candy (sugar free if possible). We’ll be making Christmas Candy favors for Seabury Woods Assisted Living & Memory Care. It’s a wonderful opportunity to slow down, share a dish, and reflect on the true meaning of the season through fellowship and laughter. Let us celebrate God’s presence by being present with one another.
Gentle Reminder: UWF will be collecting children’s underwear for Saints Place all month long. A box will be placed in the narthex after Thanksgiving.
