Our last meeting, Monday, May 12th, had us studying Ezekiel 37:1-14 “The Valley of Dry Bones”. Ezekiel 37:1-14 is a passage from the Bible that describes the prophet Ezekiel’s symbolic journey to a place of desolation. In this passage, God gives life and breath to a group of dry bones (Ezekiel assists), symbolizing restoration and redemption. We were given 3 questions to mediate upon:
- Where are valleys of dry bones (despair, loss, hopelessness) in your life or community?
- How are you practicing and co-creating hope and resurrection with God?
- How is God calling you to co-create resurrection?

Rev. Tim Foster, Peggy Whittman and Patti DeMers were remembered during the worship service at the GV District Communion Brunch at Penfield UMC on Saturday, April 12th. There were 52 ladies in attendance from across our District and $557 was collected for the UWF Legacy Fund.
March’s Call to Prayer and Self-Denial program collected $165 to support economic development and microenterprise projects, vocational training, life skills, and livelihood training internationally.
Friday, July 11th 10am will be another Grab & Go Lunch making session to benefit the Open Door Mission. We’ll make 140 peanut butter sandwiches and decorate the lunch bags with encouraging images and thoughts. A supply sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board. It typically takes 14 loaves of bread, 3-4 large peanut butter jars, 5 large jars of jelly and 70 each juice/small water, chip, and granola-style bar. All but the bread can be donated well in advance and left in the Kitchen labeled “UWF Grab & Go Lunches”. Monetary donations can also be given and we’ll do the shopping. We usually have 4 ladies in the kitchen making the sandwiches and 2-3 more decorating and assembling the bags. Of course, the more hands, the smaller the individual effort (a separate “volunteer” sign up is on the narthex bulletin board). The lunches are delivered the same day we make them and handed out that evening so those in need will have a nutritious lunch the next day.
During the month of July, we’ll be collecting children’s backpacks and school supplies. So keep your eyes out for upcoming sales. There will be a big box in the church narthex where you can place your donations. All items will go to Saint’s Place.
Our next meeting is Monday, June 9th 7pm Church Conference Room. Planning for our upcoming FUN events: Potluck Picnic & Auction (Monday, Aug 11 6pm), Rummage Sale (Sat, Sept 13), and Christmas Potluck (Monday, December 15 6pm).
